     Drama films are prone to relying on a realistic and relatable characters emotional problems and development. Although many elements are important to moving the plot forward, what this genre really relies on is the characters. They have to progress through their realistic troubled life through the film for the plot to advance.

    The main challenges faced on drama films are usually internal, dependent on the character. This is what makes the genre so unique yet specific. There isn't a rule to drama films, as long as the character is facing realistic problems and progressing through the film, it can make an amazing film. This separates drama from almost every other genre, for example, on most action films you have to see a typical physical fight/action scene, with drama the playing field is open to the decisions of the character and the troubles they approach.

These misfortunes and fortunes have to be showed in their whole, the point of these films is to show the honest struggle of any other human, this is what engages the audience to its fullest.

There can always be drama in any film, you can have the main character phase these personal problems in such unique and intriguing ways to be able to mold the drama to fit any film, thus improving the plot and story.

    The combination of the characters, the troubles they phase, and their way of solving these problems is what shapes a proper genre film, combine this with great mise en scène and you can have an amazing film, which emotionally connects the audience with a relatable characters development, and complex life stories.
